A Smart Thermostat Gives You Full Control

If you want to install a smart thermostat to control your furnace or air conditioner, call Wensink Heating & Cooling Services Inc. Even when you are not home, you can have full control over the thermostat. This brings a lot of benefits and savings.

Smart thermostats program themselves by learning your habits. They operate in one of these three ways:
  • Close-range sensors — Some work on sensors that detect whether you are home or not.
  • Long-range sensors — Others work by sensing a particular distance between your phone and your home. Once you travel beyond the distance, the thermostat turns off. When you return home, the system turns back on.
  • Remote control — There are models that enable full remote operation and also learn about your heating and air conditioning requirements.
Some smart thermostats also control humidifiers, dehumidifiers, and fans. These models provide you with greater control over your entire home atmosphere instead of just the heating and cooling systems.

The heart of any smart home system is an app on your smartphone that controls the smart thermostat. Most are designed for DIY operation, and some models include support from the company as well. Some models can sync with home automation systems, like Apple Home or Alexa. We'll help you find the model with the features you need.

It's important to choose a smart thermostat that works with your home's HVAC systems. Those designed to control a central heat or central air system handle less voltage than those built to operate a baseboard heater system, blower, or other type of heating system. The thermostat would get overloaded if you attempted to use a thermostat built for a 24v HVAC system to control baseboard heaters.

Very few companies produce high-voltage thermostats. Always double-check your system compatibility with the thermostat you are choosing. When in doubt, call Wensink Heating & Cooling Services for expert guidance and a FREE estimate.
